The measurement of Rate is broken down into a minimum of two (2) features, which can be used to provide a quantity characteristic measured with respect to another measured quantity characteristic to calculate the value of or appraise.

Rate Field Input

The Idea Criteria section is used to represent any measurement feature which was the objective of the idea creating session. Many times it is cost, schedule, number of pieces, or a technical feature such as speed, temperature, strength, brightness or energy. If the idea creating session concentrated on a business or marketing objective the criteria might be market share, time to implement or something as abstract as customer satisfaction. The primary requirement that was imposed, as a customer objective should be placed in this section as an evaluation criteria. The input for these sections can be numeric or a simple yes/no evaluation.

The second block is the complexity factor as a summation of the organizations capabilities to meet the acceptance or implementation of the original idea on a scale from 1-10 with 1 being easy and 10 being extremely hard. This would encompass the ability to actually make this idea happen. If it is completely do-able with the resources, schedule, cost and capabilities in the organization it should receive a numeric grade of  “1”, this would mean it is as simple as reaching in your desk drawer and pulling it out to complete the idea.

The “10” grade would be used for items which will require development of a new material, science or process to make the idea come into fruiting. If an idea is so absurd that it requires a change in nature such as “anti-gravity” a score of  “11” can be applied which is an indicator to ignore it at the final step.
